So it’s been QUITE a week/weekend. Let’s just say when it rains it pours, and I REALLY have been testing my ‘life is better when you’re laughing’ motto!
Our wood order was wrong yet AGAIN! And- the guy showed up three hours earlier than our APPOINTMENT TIME with the wrong load. He then proceeded to try charging us $150 because Cody wasn’t here to unload the truck. Luckily, he works right up the road so I called him and he came right then. Woo!
Then of course we were going to take amazing and professional looking pictures.. It was supposed to be almost 70 and sunny that day.. but of course not. Cloudy and dreary. So our ‘white’ backgrounds look tan.
We were going to push our store opening back again – we don’t have nearly what we want on there, our pictures are not of the highest quality, and our main items we planned on selling aren’t even on there. We have accumulated more wood and are working on our bigger projects, but for now it’s just our smaller items and nick-knacks.
BUT! I said ENOUGH EXCUSES!! Things happen, starting a new business takes time, perseverance, and determination. The point of this blog and my new lifestyle is to dance through the rain and tears and find love, happiness, and joy!
SO- we’ve opened! I will be working on editing all day/night, as well as our other website (for those of you without etsy accounts)… so keep checking back! (and I’m sure you’ll be annoyed with my self-marketing posting skills, haha ) We do not have shipping rates custom made yet for each item/combined shipping… so until that’s created and we have all of our items on there.. ENJOY FREE SHIPPING!! USE CODE: SHIPPING (Ignore shipping costs when adding to cart, they will be ZEROED during checkout. To US states only)
We could have waited and probably, definitely looked more professional – but we’re new at this. This way, we can get advice from those of you who are established and perhaps some traffic before we are completely ready to market to the world!
FEEL FREE, please, to give advice, tips – etc. Have you made mistakes you’ve learned from? We learn best from each other! Negative Nancys can go away though π
Congrats!!!

But great that you took the plunge and are doing it! If I had a penny for every time I still had a lot of work to do on something, I’d be an infinity-aire, so you’re not alone π

Congrats on opening the store! Good call getting it up online. You can always edit as you go and the market will give you valued feedback. I like the business model. Build to order is so smart rather than tying up a bunch of inventory. Wise decision. Excited for you! I look forward to reading more of your journey!
